Constable whiskey label. Rhonda and Sally reach out to meet about create a label for Brion’s ancestor JR Wise. The wanted to incorporate a picture they had into a whiskey label which they would call “Constable”.

They gave me some family history which included:

In the 1920 the census stated James J. R. Wise was a border in the Hosiery Mill and was married. James Rose “J. R.” Wise married  Cassie Iola Guy 1895–1985 on 24 Nov 1915 in Anderson County, Tennessee, USA

To this union were born four daughters, Ruth Loren Wise 1917–2009, Mary LouJean Wise 1920–2004, Margaret Euola Wise 1923–2013, Shirley Evelyn Wise 1936 – Present.

In 1947 in Anderson County, Tennessee, USA he was divorced from Cassie and married Faye Spence 1926–1979,

To this union were 2 sons born, James Wise Jr. 1945–, and Jamie Wise 1946–

J. R. supported his family through the 1930’s and 1940’s painting houses and hanging wallpaper in Anderson County. In 1946 ran a campaign for Constable in Anderson County.

J. R. successful won the election and started rounding up moonshiners and their equipment. His youngest daughter Shirley Evelyn Wise  remembers riding around with her father looking for moonshine equipment in the back woods of Anderson County several times.

Producing moonshine always had been a part of the culture in East Tennessee.

In Anderson County J. R. Worked along with other lawmen in leading a campaign to seize the Moonshiners stills in an efforts to stamp out liquor business.

In the design we incorporated an old antique feel,  a Tennessee Constable badge and the image of JR. The Wise family is proud to be making whiskey with this label.
