UI Design: PayPal Concept Design

UI Design: PayPal Concept Design abduzeedo Dec 01, 2016 PayPal seems to be one service that a lot of designers use for UI design or concept redesigns. I quite like that because it’s a finance application. It’s in a way not towards social/user generated content where it’s all about style or beauty. It’s about money, balance, transfers and stuff like that. Filippos Protogeridis shared a good one on his Behance profile. The simple and super elegant UI design, it is more image heavy when necessary, like on the promo page and utilitarian when it needs to be. Overall I quite like this concept, much more than the official and current design. Below you can see a bit more of the project. UI Design   About the designer Filippos Protogeridis is a user interface and interaction designer, focusing on product design in the technology industry. He is the Head of Design at Yatzer, while also working with several companies as a product designer, namely Transifex, Welcome, Incrediblue and e-FOOD. Three Ways Good Design Helps Small Businesses Build Trust

It might go without saying that there’s a lot of hard work and time management that goes into running a small business, but it’s important to say anyway. This kind of workload can (and some would say it should) take up all of your time. From answering emails to handling paperwork, or even simply finding the time to expand your business in a meaningful way, as the owner of a small enterprise, you’ll have your work cut out for you. It might not feel like it, but you’ll want any foothold you can find, to really leverage your ability to bring in customers during this time. Good design can help your small business save time and money, freeing you up and allowing you the room you need in order to grow past your competition. It’s called a competitive edge, and it’s what sets effective businesses apart from the rest. Below, I’ve outlined three great design tips to help your small business build trust, so that you have the extra time and resources to develop your brand and grow your operation. #1 Good designs inspire confidence. There’s a saying: dress for the job you want, not the job you have. Amateur… Read More»

Android Prototyping for Designers – Shapes and Click Event

Android Prototyping for Designers – Shapes and Click Event abduzeedo Oct 24, 2016 Prototyping has become a very important part of the UI/UX design process. With mobile applications taking over the web it is imperative for designers to find ways to test their designs on the devices. In the beginning most designers, including myself, relied on HTML, CSS and Javascript to emulate the native experiences that the users would see. It worked quite well and still does, however it’s not a very reliable approach if you really want to understand the constraints and complexities that a developer may face when translating your designs into the final product. With that in mind, I decided to focus my efforts on the Android Platform and Java to be able to create truly native prototypes. In addition, I wanted to deliver more than redlines but reusable assets that could reduce the churn and bug fixes because of differences in the jargon used by designer tools compared to the developers. Android doesn’t have the same fame that its counterpart iOS has, however it’s a great platform and it’s not that complicated to learn for simple prototypes. Dare I say that it’s easier than investing in learning Framer, for example, if… Read More»

Reinventing the Cigar Pipe

Reinventing the Cigar Pipe AoiroStudio Nov 07, 2016 I just love going through students projects, they are so creative and some of them really show such craftsmanship to the idea and execution. And I also love the fact of reinventing something that lived through the ages and put it back in time with our new mindset and technology. Some of us might disagree but I do believe on reinventing the wheel. Let’s take a look at the work of Steve Bae who is a student and industrial designer based in Seoul, Korea. He decided to redesign the famous cigar pipe from Peterson of Dublin, the same cigar pipe from one iconic fictional character and it’s Sherlock Holmes. One thing to point out is Steve also refined the main functionality for the next generation and the cigar is in fact a vaporizer. What do you think of this redesign? The Peterson of Dublin is an irish cigar pipe company famous for their craftsmanship. The company celebrated their 150th anniversary in year 2015. As an industrial designer I started this project to commend the heritage of their craftsmanship and history, The company is well known and loved by pipe smokers for their… Read More»

NEXT Music Player App – UI/UX

NEXT Music Player App – UI/UX AoiroStudio Nov 07, 2016 We’ve been seeing many app designs but we rarely see design with multiple languages. It’s quite a challenge! Knowing what languages will be use in a site or a specific app can drastically change the looks and how it can affect the user experience. Imagine for a case that you are changing the language and the font or characters is taking more width or even the height. How would you solve this issue? Let’s take a look at the work by Alan Lu and his project called NEXT. It’s a music player with playback controls, smart playlists, music sharing and more. What I do appreciate about this project is Alan took the time to implement the little details. As we all do know that is all about the details.   This is my recent project. NEXT is a music player with gesture-integrated playback controls, custom / smart playlists, and music sharing. With NEXT you can turn your music into beautiful graphic art and share your unique creative design on the go.   More information via Behance. UI/UX ui design
